GESTURE OF FRIEDRICH

HUSTOPECE (CZE): In an unprecedented gesture the top German high jumper Ariane Friedrich returned half of the appearance fee received from the Hustopece high jump meet in January (part of Moravia High Jump Tour). The amount should support the young athletes of the Hustopece club. She did the same in connection with Arnstadt meet which followed Hustopece. At the Czech venue what was her first jump after a long break she cleared 184 cm and was 9th. „I want to give an example also for other athletes that in such situations this is the right step. My result was not at the level as I planned and I think the returned amount will be useful for the young athletes in the city," said Friedrich.
